Obituary for Robert Dean Merriman Sr. Robert Dean Merriman AKA “Okie”of Joplin Mo. was born on April 29, 1958 to Bobby Dean Merriman & Anna Thurlene Blake Merriman/Spence (Booty) in Woodward Oklahoma. Robert passed away December 13, 2018.
Robert spent most of child hood between Joplin & Woodward. Robert served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Tripoli (LPH-10) 1975-1979. In 1980 after his service he married Janice White of Woodward .
This union blessed him with 3 sons Robert Dean Merriman III of Enid ,OK , Jonathan Merriman of Woodward,OK, Mark Merriman of Gibson, AR . Robert worked in the oilfield threw the 80’s & 90’s “from crown to ground” before switching to Construction Work for Stellar based out of Jacksonville ,FL. He worked there until his eyesight failed.
He is survived by: his children , their spouses, his beloved grand babies, Very Special Friend Melissa Patton & children , ex-wife Janice Merriman, Sister Kim Kingore of Meno OK & numerous friends and family from the Joplin area and Woodward area, his fur babies Peanut & Butters. He was proceeded in passing by his parents, Stepfather Lenard Spence, daughter in law Sarah Merriman, grandsons Mason & Alexander.
