Dirke M Combs, December 31, 1981 — January 10, 2019

Craig Dirke McCombs of Salina, KS formally of Ironton, MO passed away on January 10, 2019 at the age of 37 years and 10 days. He was born December 31, 1981 in McComb, IL, a son of Craig Robert McCombs and Mary Jane Titus who survive. Also surviving are four children; Abbigail, Lucas, June, and Bradley McCombs, three Brothers; James “JR” McCombs (Sarah Knapp), Jacob (Tammy) McCombs, and a stepbrother Kevin Titus, a stepsister Kayla (Jordan) Brouwer, his stepfather Rick Titus, his grandfather Robert Lee “Jake” McCombs, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Dirke is preceded in death by three grandparents, Walter and Shirley Livingston, and Phylis McCombs. Dirke, as he was known to all those who knew and loved him, grew up in Iron County, Missouri. For the last several years he was working as a painter which he enjoyed, but he was truly a jack-of-all trades.

He was a skilled heavy equipment operator, he worked as a metal fabricator and laborer, a skilled construction worker, and knew all about living as a poor country boy and logger. Dirke’s life was that of a cowboy’s. No one was a stranger and nothing was off limits.

If you didn’t know him, you wouldn’t be able to forget him with the help of his larger-than-life smile and intoxicating laugh. His horse, Smokey, was like a fifth child to him. Besides riding Smokey, he enjoyed being outside; whether it be four-wheeling in his truck, riding four wheelers, or hunting, he always found happiness in such activities.

And above all else, family and friends meant the most to him. He loved his time with all of his family, but nothing meant more to him then the time he got to spend with his children. Dirke will be sadly and greatly missed but fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.

A Life Celebration will be held on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at 11:00 am from the Cole family chapel. Visitation, will be held on January 16, 2019 from 4 to 8 pm. Interment will be held in Cove Cemetery.
