Donald Eugene “Dugan” Evans, 84, of Burlington, died at 10:50 PM Saturday, July 21, 2018, at the Danville Care Center in Danville. Born July 20, 1934, in Cantril, IA, he was the son of Gale and Murel Iva Dorr Evans. On October 25, 1952, he married Joanne Humphrey in Milton, IA.

She died May 12, 2017. Donald worked as a painter and wallpaper hanger for 34 years. He was a 1952 graduate of Milton High School.

He was a member of the Moose and Eagles Club. He enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening and was a St. Louis Cardinal Fan. He was a past president and member of the Painter’s Union #246.

Survivors include two sons, Rick (Lynne) Evans of Sperry, Mike (Penny) Evans of Burlington; one daughter, Cheryl (Chip) Carlson of Morton, IL; six grandchildren, Chad (Jill Parker) Evans, Kyle Evans, Harry (Kathleen) Carlson, Ian (Danielle Pickner) Carlson, Derek (Savanna) Evans, Kali (Shawn) Schwabe; two great-grandchildren, Claire Schwabe and Hayzel Evans, several nieces and nephews. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until noon with the family to receive friends Thursday, July 26, 2018 at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home.

The funeral service for Mr. Evans will be noon Thursday, July 26, 2018, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home with Tracey Burgus officiating. A time of food and fellowship will be held in the community room at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home following the service. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Cantril, IA.

A memorial has been established.
