Donald Eugene Osiniak, 84, of Poland, passed away with his family at his side, Sunday afternoon, June 24, 2018 at Hampton Woods after many years of battling cancer. Two months after the passing of his wife, Don rejoined the love of his life, “Sunshine” in a much better place. One way or another he was destined to be with June on June 28, 2018 for her 82nd birthday and July 26th for their 60th Anniversary.

Don was born December 9, 1933 in Youngstown, Ohio, a son of the late Chester and Susan Marcincak Osiniak. Raised in Youngstown, Don was a 1951 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School. He was a machinist for Youngstown Foundry and later Wean United where he retired in 1999 after 40 years of service.

Don was an active life-long member of Bethlehem United Church of Christ now known as Faith Community Church where he served as usher. Serving from 1955 until 1958 as a paratrooper with the United States Army, Don developed his love of jumping. After 29 jumps with the US Army 11th Airborne Division and the 37th Armed Infantry Battalion, 3rd Armored Division, Company D, 3rd Platoon and one jump from 13,500 ft in Sebastian Florida at age 75, Don made his final jump and landed himself in Heaven.

He earned two sets of wings, one from “Hells Angels” as they were referred to by the US Army and another “Heavenly Angels” awarded by non other than God the Father Almighty. After that jump in Florida, approximately 50 years later, all he could say is “Now that is Living” even after breaking and dislocating his ankle on the landing. Don’s family will forever remember his love, generosity, support, humor, friendship and honesty.

Don leaves his son, Donald (Karen) Osiniak Jr. of Melbourne, FL; daughter, Patricia (Deno) Frazzini of Youngstown; brother, Robert Osiniak of Struthers; and grandchildren, Nicholas and Ashlee Frazzini, both of Boardman. A service celebrating Don’s life will be held Thursday, 11:00 AM at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland, with Pastor Michael Zabel officiating. Interment will follow at the Lake Park Cemetery.

Friends will be received Wednesday from 4-7 PM and Thursday from 10-10:45 AM at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the Hampton Woods, 1525 E. Western Reserve Road, Poland, OH 44514 or to Crossroad Hospice, 3743 Boettler Oaks Drive, Suite E, Green, OH 44685.
