Fred L. Luther, 76, of Poland, Ohio died Thursday evening June 21, 2018 after a lengthy illness with his family by his side. He was born November 8, 1941 in Youngstown, OH, son of Fred and Hadie (Tranthan) Luther and had been a lifelong area resident. He was a 1959 graduate of Struthers High School and had worked for Youngstown Cartage and Borden Dairy.

After his retirement, he drove the van for the Greenbrier Health Care Center. He enjoyed hunting, landscaping, and especially enjoyed time spent with his family. He was a member of Heritage Presbyterian Church.

Besides his wife, the former LaVerne Mitchell. whom he married July 21, 1962, he leaves his son, James Luther at home; his daughter, Janet (Ed) Ruscitti of Struthers; a brother, Hayward Luther in Florida; two sisters, Frances Zetts in VA, and Lois Meiten in Florida, as well as several very dear cousins, nieces, and nephews. Besides his parents, Fred was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Tracey Lynn Luther.

It is Fred’s wishes that no services or calling hours take place. A gathering of family and friends will be held at a later date. The family would like to extend their very special thanks to The Hope Center and Hospice of the Valley for their compassion and care.
