Struthers – Anne Fabian, 82, of Struthers, passed away peacefully Monday morning, June 4, 2018, at her residence. Anne was born May 28, 1936 in Pittsburgh, PA, a daughter of Albert and Mary Shimko Wrabley. A 1954 graduate of Peabody High School, Anne lived in Pittsburgh until her marriage to her husband George Fabian on February 21, 1955.

As a newly married couple, Anne and George made their home in Struthers due to the thriving steel mill industry. Anne was a devoted and dedicated wife and mother. She embraced her roles by creating a loving, warm and nourishing home for her family.

As her family of six children grew, Anne’s roles expanded to Struthers PTA mom and Struthers Band Boosters, becoming a fixture at the cotton candy and popcorn concessions for all the sporting events at the Field House including the former Aut Mori Grotto Circus. Anne never really cared about the messes created and was always ready to lay down the newspaper for crafts and work projects. She will be remembered as always keeping her house in stock with arts and crafts material to fulfill any last minute school project; coloring Easter Eggs; bringing out the Halloween chest weeks early to let her children create their costumes, but keeping them in suspense to the last minute in decorating their live Christmas tree; and their impromptu vacation trips to Pittsburgh and Masontown to visit family.

In later years, Anne loved sharing her joy of baking, crafts and playing games with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Until recently, Anne stayed active with the Band Boosters, was a member of the Pinnettes Bowling League and was currently always available in helping with her daughter Mary’s catering business. Anne’s husband, George Fabian died twenty years ago, July 17, 1998.

She leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters, Janet (Joe McCree) Marstellar of Poland and Mary (Greg) Spatholt of Struthers; four sons, George (Lindsey) Fabian of Henrietta, NY, Michael (Pam) Fabian of Poland, Dave Fabian also of Struthers, and Mark (Karen) Fabian of Poland; twelve grandchildren, George Fabian of Struthers, Jason (Terry) Fabian of Boardman, Christiana Fabian of Henrietta, NY, Michael (Michelle) Fabian of New York, NY, Jami (Eric Saboley) Fabian of Marietta, Jennifer (Matthew) Morgan of Canfield, Joseph (Caitlin Phalon) Martsellar of Pittsburgh, PA. , Jillian (Karl) Gruhlkey, Jesse (Gordon) Slanina, and Gregory Spatholt all of Struthers, Mark Jr. and Bryanna Fabian both of Poland; nine great-grandchildren, Jason Fabian and Autumn Fabian both of Boardman, Michael Fabian and Julia Fabian both of NY, NY, Miles and Benjamin Morgan both of Canfield, Lincoln and Rosalyn Gruhlkey both of Struthers, and Baby Slanina of Struthers; two nephews, Sean Kelly of Cranberry, PA, and Scott (Suzanne) Kelly of Charlotte, NC. In addition to her parents and husband, Anne was preceded in death by her sister, Carol Kelly and brother-in-law, Richard Kelly.

A funeral service celebrating Anne’s life will be held Friday, June 8, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland with Pastor Reid Lamport officiating. A luncheon will follow at the Becker Family Center. Anne will be interred at the Lake Park Cemetery, Youngstown, OH.

Friends will be received Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home.
