Obituary for Donald L. Christensen Donald L. “Chris” Christensen, 83, of Beloit, WI, died Monday, July 2, 2018 in Beloit Memorial Hospital. He was born August 16, 1934 in Stoughton, WI, the son of Leo and Edna (Schieldt) Christensen. Donald was a 1952 graduate of Edgerton High School.

He received his Bachelors degree from the University of Wisconsin LaCrosse. Donald was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He married Jean Lord on June 22, 1955 in Dubuque, IA.

Donald was employed by the Turner High School District, retiring in 1994. While at Turner he was a Physical Education Instructor, taught a Health class, head football coach, track coach, drove school bus and was the transportation director for Turner. During his retirement he installed Lifeline for Beloit Memorial Hospital and was a volunteer for Meal on Wheels for 20 years.

He was on the board of directors for Meals on Wheels, past president for the Beloit Evening Lions Club, and past president for Turner Education Association (TEA). Donald was a member of Second Congregational Church where he served as the past president for the Deacons. He was also a member of Wisconsin Retired Teachers Association and National Educators Association (NEA).

Survivors include his wife, Jean Christensen of Beloit, WI; children, Cynthia Mooney (Rendel) of Beloit, WI, Todd (Tammy) Christensen of Janesville, WI, Gregory (Kim) Christensen of Beloit, WI, and Julie (James) Helm of Chicago, IL; grandchildren, Travis, Jeremy (Sasha), Kristi (Ali), Hunter, Logan, Nichole (Travis), Joshua, Luke, and Lauren; great grandchildren, Mya and Cody; brothers, LaVerne (Diane) Christensen of Beloit, WI, and James (Sue) Christensen of Virginia; sister-in-law, Janet (Sheldon) Schieldt of Edgerton, WI; good friend, Dee Jones; other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Bob Dierks. Funeral service for Donald will be 12:30 p.m. Saturday, July 7, 2018 in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with Reverend Larry Froemming officiating.

Visitation of remembrance will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service Saturday in the funeral home.
