Obituary for Francis E. Guerin Francis “Fran” E. Guerin, 87, of South Beloit, IL, died Thursday, September 6, 2018 at Willowick Assisted Living, Clinton, WI. He was born on January 13, 1931 in South Beloit, IL, the son of Roy and Dorothy (Adams) Guerin. Fran was a graduate of South Beloit High School.
He was a Korean War veteran serving with the U.S. Army in the 180th Infantry. Fran married Mary Boschi on June 12, 1954 in St. Peter Catholic Church, South Beloit, IL. She predeceased him on November 13, 1992.
Fran was employed by Beloit Knitting Factory and retired from Beloit Corporation after 43 years in 1997. He was a member of the Beloit Corporation Quarter Century Club, Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #191 and St. Peter Catholic Church. Fran enjoyed seeing his grandchildren and great grandchildren; going on bus trips, whistling, dancing and meeting his gang for breakfast.
Fran would never talk about how he felt and he would tell you he was just fine. He wouldn’t have wanted anyone to focus on his illness or the cause of his death, but rather to focus on his memories he shared with you. Survivors include his children, Ralph Guerin and Francesca (Rick) Hergert both of Rockton, IL; grandchildren,Jessica (Patrick) Pasiecznik , Nicole (fiancé.
Matt Chaplin) Guerin, Drew (Caitlyn) Guerin, Amber Guerin, Brandon (Katelyn) Hergert, Travis (Amy) Hergert, and Preston (Taylor) Hergert; nine great grandchildren; sister, Judy (Roger) Olsen of South Carolina; sisters-in-law, Margaret Boschi of Beloit, WI and Meda Qualizza of Clinton, WI; special friend, Donna McFarland of Clinton, WI; several nieces, nephews, and his breakfast/walking group. A special thank you to all the staff at Willowick in Clinton, WI, for the kind care they gave to the “Grumpy Old Man who kept pushing his alarm”. Also thank you to Beloit Regional Hospice for all their care.
He was predeceased by his parents, sister Charlotte McGavran, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 12, 2018 in St. Peter Catholic Church, 620 Blackhawk Blvd, South Beloit, IL, with Fr. Steven Sabo officiating.
Burial will be in Mt. Thabor Cemetery. Visitation of remembrance will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Rd.
