Donald Roy Hixson, 82, of South Haven, passed away Friday, November 9, 2018 at the Ascension Borgess – Pipp Hospital in Plainwell. He was born July 11, 1936 to Donald and Sarah (Armstrong) Hixson in Chicago, Illinois. He married Marion Quarrell on June 30, 1956 and shared 62 years in marriage.

He honorably served his country in the United States Army from 1958 to 1965 when he was discharged as Captain. Donald earned his MBA in Business from Michigan State University. Donald worked in sales and marketing for several oil companies and most recently was the president at Fujimi Corp before his retirement in 2002.

He was a member of SHOUT, the Maritime Museum, Art Center, Bailey Museum, and the South Haven Health Systems and Bronson Hospital Foundations. He was a past president of the South Haven Rotary Club and a past commodore of the South Haven Yacht Club. He was a member of the Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church in South Haven.

Donald loved antique cars and enjoyed attending car shows and belonged to Mustang and Buick car clubs. He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother – David W. Hixson. Donald is survived by his wife – Marion Hixson of South Haven, children – David (Julie) Hixson of Oswego, Illinois, Dwight (Laurie) Hixson of Bolingbrook, Illinois, Debbie Hixson of Bolingbrook, Illinois, and Melissa (Robert) Webb of Bolingbrook, Illinois, eight grandsons – Connor, Ross, Sean, Robert, Payton, Timothy, Kenneth, and Vincent, and four great-grandchildren – Roy, Terra, Maggie, and Titania.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Friday, November 16, 2018 at the Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church in South Haven. Memorial services will follow the visitation at 3:00 PM at the church with Pastor Travis Wilson officiating. Contributions may be made in Donald’s memory to the Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 06321 Blue Star Highway, South Haven, Michigan 49090.
