Mrs. Donna Earley Reed, age 55, of Old Fort, was called by her Heavenly Father to a place He prepared especially for her, left vacant until Saturday, June 9, 2018, when He decided to bring her unto himself. She was at home when she departed this side of eternity and now breathes celestial air, having risen from the turmoil of this world, she awoke into one unbroken calm, her new eternal home with her Savior. A daughter of Harvey and Wanda Vess Earley, Donna was born on September 12, 1962.

She was employed in the home health care field, a position that suited her instinctive desire to serve those in need. She was a caregiver to many and will be remembered for the motherly love she extended to those she knew and loved. She exemplified Christian charity and showed herself to be a wonderful example of how the Lord would have us live our lives.

Her husband of 8 years, Rick Reed, loved her dearly and affectionately called her the “Queen of Crooked Creek” and he along with many others are deeply saddened by this unexpected loss. Donna served faithfully in the Crooked Creek Volunteer Fire Department as a First Responder and in the Ladies Auxiliary. She attended the Broad River Baptist Church.

Donna leaves behind, in addition to her beloved husband and dear parents, her son, Justin Powell of the home; two sisters, Kim Bartlett (Kenneth) and Crystal Allen (Steven); three nieces, Kali Bartlett, Megan Bartlett and Caprice Snow; a nephew, Kenny Bartlett; seven great-nieces and great-nephews; her mother-in-law, Linda Reed of Old Fort; her special friend and cousin, Ronnie Holland; two dear cousins who were like sisters to her, Tonya Kelley and Tracey Vess; and many other relatives and friends who she was a special angel to. The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 12, 2018 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Westmoreland Funeral Service and Cremations in Old Fort. A service of remembrance and celebration of her life will be held Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev.

Bob Hagan and Mr. Johnny Hall officiating. Burial will follow in the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery. Flowers are appreciated or memorials may be made to the Crooked Creek Fire Department at PO Box 1927, Old Fort, NC 28762.
