Edith Mae White Owens, age 83, of Marion, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, June 6, 2018, while surrounded by her loving family. Edith was born in McDowell County on February 7, 1935 to the late Jasper and Mary Morris White. She was loved by everyone, and will be remembered for the sweet, kind hearted, and selfless woman that she was.

Edith had a passion for gardening and especially loved her flowers. She was a wonderful, loving mother who loved the Lord, and she will be missed dearly. Her husband of 32 years, John Lewis Owens, Sr., preceded her in death.

Left to cherish her memory are her five children, Vickey Nelson of Marion, John Lewis Owens Jr. of Marion, Bobby Eugene Owens of Marion, Steve Owens and wife Janet of Morganton, and Terry Owens and wife Deanna of Nebo; and over twenty grandchildren and great grandchildren, each and every one loved so very much by her. The family will receive friends on Monday, June 11, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Nebo First Baptist Church. A service will follow the visitation at 12:30 p.m. with Rev.

Doug Worley, Rev. Daniel McMahan, and Rev. Richard Ellington officiating.

Burial will follow in McDowell Memorial Park where she will be laid to rest beside her beloved Lewis. The family wishes to express their deep appreciation for the special loving care given to Edith by all the Hospice staff during Edith’s illness.
