Obituary for Doris V. Smith Doris V. Smith, 92, formerly of Pine Street, Jamestown, N.Y., passed away on Sunday, July 23, 2017 at Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing. She was born on September 12, 1924 in Jamestown, N.Y., the daughter of the late Lester and Mattie Blair Porter. She worked as housekeeper at Jamestown Girls Club as well as being a housekeeper for a few prominent families for many years.

She was an active member of New Covenant Assembly Church for many years. Doris took great joy in singing praises unto the Lord. Doris loved her family and took pleasure in family gatherings in her home.

She loved God and raised her family up in the fear and admonition of the Lord. In her later years Doris was active with Chautauqua County Senior Citizens Day Care program on Buffalo Street, Jamestown. (Where her social skills really shined).

There was a close relationship with her grand-daughter, Stephanie Woods whom cared for Doris in her later years. Doris is survived by her brother: Leroy Porter; five sons: William Henry (Adrian) Smith of Buffalo, NY, Edward Jr. (Lorena) Smith of Jamestown, N.Y., Rodney Wayne (Candi) Smith of Defiance, OH, Todd Allen of Jamestown, N.Y. and Vince Allen of Poplar Bluff, Missouri. Doris had eleven grandchildren: William Smith the 3rd, Lauren Smith, Brandi Marsh, Stephanie Woods, Jessica Smith, Ashley Smith, Lindsey Smith, Jeremy Smith, Ryan Troutman, Shawna Allen and Nicole Kinsey and seventeen great grandchildren.

With a host of nieces and nephews. Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Smith whom she married on Dec. 4, 1949 in Jamestown, N.Y., a daughter, Brenda Sue Cruz, sisters, Floritha Allen, Dixie Hough, Willa May Boyd, Jane Hill, Dora Rives, Lily Merritt, Ann Ferguson, James Porter and Napoleon Porter.

Family and friends may call at New Covenant Assembly Church, 17 Arlington Avenue, Jamestown, N.Y., on Friday from 11 AM until noon. A funeral service will be held there at noon Rev. Trevor Colburn, pastor of the church will officiate.
