Dorothy Ditata November 01, 1929 – March 11, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM on Saturday March 16, 2019 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Austintown with the Rev. Gregory F. Fedor officiating for Dorothy Butala Richardson Ditata age 89, of Austintown who passed away on Monday March 11, 2019 at O’Brien Memorial Health Care Center in Masury. Dorothy was born November 1, 1929 in Sharon, PA.

a daughter of John A. & Ella Marie Hreka Butala. She attended St. Patrick Elementary School in Hubbard and graduated in 1947 from Hubbard High School. Dorothy was a Corporal in the United States Army serving during the Korean War.

She was an x-ray technician and was the manager of the x-ray department at the former Southside Hospital of Youngstown and later the x-ray department manager at Shenango Valley Osteopathic Hospital. She was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Hubbard and later a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary in Austintown where she was the former treasurer of its Altar & Rosary Society, and past treasurer of Immaculate Heart of Mary Bowling League. Dorothy enjoyed gardening, macrame, crafts, and traveling.

She will be forever missed and remembered by her family; her husband James V. Ditata whom she married July 7, 1979; her children Richard Richardson of Hubbard, John “Duffey” Richardson of Austintown, James R. (Sharon) Ditata of Parma, Ohio, and Kathleen Ditata-Pontius of Austintown, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She also leaves her sister Ella Jane (Carl) Wittenauer of Hubbard. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers Richard Butala, Daniel Butala, and Philip Butala.

There will be calling hours on Friday March 15, 2019 from 5-7 at Stewart-Kyle Funeral Home and Saturday March 16, 2019 from 9:30 AM until the start of Mass. Dorothy will be laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery in Austintown following the Mass on Saturday. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Dorothy to Alzheimer Association 3695 Boardman-Canfield Road Suite 301 B, Canfield, Ohio 44406.
