Schroeder February 25, 1920 – May 05, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook| View Guestbook Entries| Send Sympathy Card Dorothy Schroeder, 99, of Langdon, ND, passed away Sunday, May 5, 2019, at Maple Manor Care Center in Langdon. Dorothy Elaine Watkins was born February 25, 1920, in Carrington, ND, to George and Hattie (Mason) Watkins. She graduated high school from Bowbells, ND.

Dorothy continued her education at Minot State College and UND. She met the love of her life, Russell Schroeder, during her college years. After graduation, she worked at Farn Security Administration in her hometown.

Dorothy and Russell were married April 25, 1942, in Carrington. Russell accepted a teaching position as an agricultural instructor in Langdon, ND, and later started Schroeder Furniture Company. Langdon became their home the rest of their lives and was where they raised their seven children.

Dorothy was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church and sang in the church choir for 62 years. She was also a member of Altar Society and Catholic Daughters. She was active in the community with Langdon Women’s Club, Langdon Country Club, and other organizations.

She served on the Langdon Centennial Committee and was one of three writers of the 1988 pageant. She thoroughly enjoyed singing with her Sweet Adeline‘s group and going to different competitions around the state. Playing cards in bridge clubs seemed like a weekly event.

Dorothy enjoyed the many visits with family and friends. She was a master of entertaining. Mom will be greatly missed!

Memories of her love of life, great sense of style, and devotion to her faith will never be forgotten. Surviving Dorothy are her children: Susan (Henry) Biesiot of Dickinson, ND, Peggy (Rick) Benoit of Langdon, Randy (Lynn) Schroeder of Lewisville, NC, Kathryn Schroeder of Boise, ID, Stephen (Gigi)Schroeder of Lake Elsinore, CA; grandchildren: Kathryn (Sean) Evans Urquhart, David (Andrea) Evans, Suzanne (Brian) Stromberg, Vincent (Patience) Biesiot, Tony Biesiot, Frank Benoit, Kelly Morris (Chris) Henderson, Shane Schroeder and Triston Schroeder; 13 great-grandchildren; and son-in-law Tom Evans. She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell, in 2005; son Larry in 2010; daughter Sandra Evans in 2006, and her only brothers, George and Bill Watkins.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 9, 2019, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Langdon. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. with a 4:30 Rosary and 6:00 p.m. prayer service on Wednesday, May 8, 2019, at Brooks Funeral Home in Langdon, ND, and for one hour prior to service time at the church on Thursday. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Langdon.
