Obituary for Dorothy Lucille Ulrich Dorothy Lucille Ulrich July 13, 1926 – December 17, 2018 Wenatchee, WA Dorothy Lucille Ulrich, 92, a long time Wenatchee resident, peacefully joined her Lord, with her family by her side, on December 17, 2018. She was a strong and loving lady, who was always looking for God’s path. She dearly loved her family, her church, and her community near and far.

She was born on July 13, 1926, in Liberal, KS, daughter of George and Lissa (Webb) Carlson. At an early age, her family moved to Dinuba, CA, where she graduated from Kingsburg High School and Reedley College. She moved to Wenatchee, WA, to live with her Aunt Wilma.

While at a dinner at her Uncle Herbert and Aunt Esther’s home, she met Mahlon L. “Doc” Ulrich, and they were later married on May 9, 1948, in Dinuba, CA. They made their home together for 61 years in Wenatchee. “Doc and Dot” enjoyed their favorite pastimes of bowling, golfing, pinochle, board games, jigsaw puzzles, and gardening.

Dorothy worked a variety of jobs beginning in the fruit packing sheds when she arrived in Wenatchee, and later as a legal secretary for Lowell Sperline. For 24 years, she enjoyed the energy and giggles working with children as a teacher’s aide at Washington Elementary School in Wenatchee, retiring only after she could no longer clearly hear their young voices. Dorothy was quite active in the Wenatchee Brethren Baptist Church and a steady volunteer.

Gatherings of her Grace and Growth Group were a regular Thursday evening event at her home. She was a constant presence at the Red Cross blood drive site. For many years, on Wednesday afternoons, she helped distribute food boxes for Serve Wenatchee.

She is survived by her son Eldon (Jean) Ulrich of Madison, WI; grandchildren David (Janel) Ulrich of East Wenatchee, WA, Brad Ulrich of Plain, WA, Tanya (Jason) Stroscheim of Wenatchee, WA, Emily Ulrich of Cambridge, MA, and Melanie Ulrich of Boston, MA; great-grandchildren Joshua “Josh” Ulrich of East Wenatchee, WA, Jacob “Jake” Ulrich of East Wenatchee, WA, and Alysha Stroscheim of Wenatchee, WA; sister Rowena Netzley of Manhattan Beach, CA; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mahlon Ulrich; her parents; son, Cary Ulrich; and six brothers and sisters: Warren Carlson, Glenn Carlson, Dwight Carlson, June Berg, Wanda Rouch, and Betty McCarty. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, January 7, 2019, at the Wenatchee Brethren Baptist Church located at 535 Okanogan Ave.

, Wenatchee, WA, 98801 followed by a brief Graveside Service at the Wenatchee Cemetery located at 1804 North Western Ave. , Wenatchee, WA, 98801. Viewing will be held from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 6, 2019 at the funeral home.

A Memorial Celebration will be held later in the Spring. The family would like to thank the many staff and doctors at Central Washington Hospital who provided care during Dorothy’s extended stay. Should friends desire, memorial donations may be made in her name to Serve Wenatchee, the American Red Cross, or the Wenatchee Brethren Baptist Church.
