Obituary for Douglas Williams Douglas Earl Williams, 72, died Thursday, June 28, 2018 at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City. He was born November 14, 1945 in LaCrosse, Kansas the son of Clayton & Josephine (Moore) Williams. Douglas has been a resident of Garden City since 1978.

He worked for many years as a shift foreman for Enron. Doug also worked as a private business owner for 10 years as the owner and operator of 3rd and Kansas Liquor. He was a member of the NRA and the Sand & Sage Rifle and Pistol Club.

Doug loved the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, target shooting, and he loved his animals especially dogs. Doug also earned his pilot’s license and enjoyed flying.

He married Helen Horacek in Alexander, Kansas. She died in 1972. Doug is also preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his life long companion Karen Karle of Garden City; 3 children Tammy Williams of Garden City, Mike Williams of Garden City, and Kelly & husband Luis Ruiz of Grand Island, Nebraska; 3 brothers Dwight Williams of Alexander, Kansas, Duane Williams of Atchison, Kansas, and Don Williams of Glendale, Arizona; 11 Grandchildren; and 12 Great-Grandchildren. A celebration of Doug’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 2, 2018 at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City. A private family interment will take place at a later date.

There will be no calling hours. The family suggests memorials given to the Finney County Humane Society in care of the funeral home.
