Obituary for Dr. Richard Trdan Saginaw Twp. , Michigan Beloved husband, father and grandfather unexpectedly passed away on Friday, April 6, 2018. Age 71 years.

The son of the late James and Margaret (Pietrangelo) Trdan, Rich was born on January 11, 1947 in Hibbing, Minnesota. Rich was a passionate professor of biology at SVSU for 40 years, and known as the “Clam Man of Michigan”. He was an avid outdoorsman and protector of the environment.

He loved spending time with his family and friends by the lake in Minnesota. Surviving besides his wife Kathleen are two daughters and one son, Jennifer Trdan and her husband Steve Hall, St. Paul, MN; Allison Trdan and her fiancé, Kurt Martin, Ithaca, NY and Paul (Suzi) Trdan, Marquette, MI; three grandchildren, Cole, Myles and Emily Trdan; his siblings, Elsie (Dave) Forbes, Buhl, MN; Peggy (Andy) Enrico, Chisholm, MN; Rodney “Rock” (Barb) Trdan, Chisholm, MN; Ted Sundberg, Virginia Beach, VA; and many nieces and nephews. Rich was preceded in death by his step-father, Russell Sundberg and his brother, Merlin Sundberg.

Funeral Service will take place at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 12, 2018 at The Snow Funeral Home 3775 N. Center Rd. , (between Shattuck and McCarty). A member of the St. Thomas Aquinas clergy will officiate.

Honoring Rich’s wishes cremation will follow. Friends may call at the funeral home where the family will be present on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider donating to Save the Boundary.
