Obituary for Dwayne Nelson Dwayne Nelson, age 76, of Freeland, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, June 5, 2018. The son of Cyril and Mildred Nelson, Dwayne was born August 12, 1941, in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.
He married Judith Cotie on May 29, 1969. Dwayne was a devoted husband and father. He worked construction as a lather for many years and eventually retired from Michigan Sugar as an Instrument Technician.
He also served in the United States Marine Corps. Dwayne enjoyed his collecting hobby, especially locks and keys, and books. He was an avid reader, enjoyed playing cards, camping, and spending time with family, friends, and his pets.
Dwayne is survived by his wife, Judy; children, Marnie (Hector) Malacara and Clayton (Zaley) Nelson; grandchildren, Ashton Lewandowski, Kyen Malacara, Nevan Malacara, Ada Nelson, and Torunn Nelson; siblings, Carole (Len) Kruska and Patrick (Jenny) Nelson; sister in law, Judy Nelson; former sister in law, Nancy Nelson; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Gale Nelson, and a sister, Joyce Nelson. Visitation will take place on Friday, June 8, 2018, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Saturday, June 9, 2018, from 10:00 a.m. until time of Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. at Fischer Family Funeral Home, 504 N. Michigan Avenue, Saginaw, Michigan 48602.
