Obituary for Earl Gregory Earl Max Gregory peacefully entered into his reward at his home in Gray, TN on Thursday, August 30, 2018. He was 86 years of age. Visitation and viewing will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Discover Pentecost Church, 1111 Baxter Street, Johnson City, TN.

The funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. The graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. at Mountain Home National Cemetery in Johnson City. Earl was born February 16, 1932 to Earl Fletcher and Eulah (Harrison) Gregory of Chattanooga, Tennessee, where he spent most his childhood. His family, and friends referred to him as “Harold”, a nickname given by his mother.

Earl attended Redbank High School, where he excelled at football. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy between 1951-1954 and was recognized for distinguished service during the Korean War. On September 28, 1955, Earl married Glenna Sue Compton of Beaver, Ohio.

In 1958, Earl earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the Chicago Technical Institute. Earl was a devoted husband and father, a loving “Granddaddy” to seven grandchildren, and friend to many. He was a gifted electrical engineer, employed with Tennessee Alloys in Bridgeport, Alabama for over 30 years.

He was an ordained minister with the United Pentecostal Church International (UPCI). Earl pastored congregations in both Scottsboro and Bridgeport, Alabama, and served as an elder on the ministry team at Maple Hill United Pentecostal Church in Huntsville, Alabama. He leaves a rich heritage with two sons-in-law who are UPCI pastors and all three grandsons licensed UPCI ministers.

Earl is survived by Glenna Sue (Compton) Gregory, wife of 62 years; children, Deanna Sue Drylie (Robert) of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Diana Lee Gregory of Huntsville, Alabama; Gloria Jean “Jeannie” Gregory of Huntsville, Alabama; Elaine Michelle “Missy” Grimm (Calvin) of Johnson City, Tennessee; and Charity Sue Santinelli (Samuele) of Firenze, Italy; grandchildren, Robert Gregory Drylie; Rachel SuErinne Drylie; Emileigh Sue Beatty (Matthew); Earl Zachary Pierce Drylie (Sarah); Matthew Johann Grimm; Carrie Elaine Grimm; and Serenity Sue Santinelli; a sibling, Joeann Mintern of Warren, Ohio, and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Earl Fletcher Gregory and Eulah (Harrison) Gregory; siblings, Maxine McCullough of Crawford, Colorado; and James Lester Gregory of Washington Court House, Ohio. The Gregory family extends their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to caregivers of Home Instead Senior Care of Johnson City and Ballad Health Hospice for their dedication and care.
