Obituary for Raymond O. Lawson Raymond O. Lawson, age 72, of Hampton, was called home unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 in Salem, Virginia. Raymond was born in Elizabethton, Tennessee to the late Elmer Lee and Bertha Ann Shaffer Lawson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Sharon Lawson.

Raymond was a loving husband, father and friend to many and was of the Christian faith. He was a United States Navy veteran, having served in the Vietnam War and had been employed in retail management. Raymond loved trading cars, woodworking and remodeling his home.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving and devoted wife of 27 years, Merri Lawson, of the home; a daughter, Rebekah Lawson, of Hampton; two sons, William Potter, of Jonesborough and Matthew Potter, of Elizabethton; two grandchildren, Ethan Potter and Josie Potter, both of Jonesborough; and four sisters, Diana Sue Rasnick and husband Ronnie, Judy Rasnick and husband David, Sherry Harmon and husband Dale and Kathy Scalf, all of Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The family will receive friends Sunday, October 07, 2018, from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton.
