Obituary for Elizabeth Anne Bond Elizabeth “Betty” Anne Gorman Bond, 88, passed away at home, surrounded by love, on Tuesday, October 16, 2018. She was the daughter of the late James R. Gorman Sr. and Mary Woodville Ferguson Gorman. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph “Pee Wee” Bond, her brothers, James R. Gorman, Jr., John B. Gorman Sr., and Thomas L. Gorman, and a great nephew.

Betty was so full of life and loved her family and friends with a passion that was undeniable. She loved singing, praying, dancing the Jitterbug, and indulging her sweet tooth. She attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church where she belonged to the Divine Mercy Prayer Cenacle and the Folk Choir (5:00pm choir).

She was also a member of St. Joseph’s College Alumnae Association in Emmitsburg, Maryland. Betty worked at James H. Quillen V.A. Medical Center from 1980-1997, the V.A. in Beckley, West Virginia, and Beckley Hospital. She is survived by her daughter, Jane Elizabeth Bond of Johnson City, TN; her son, R. Gerard “Gerry” Bond and his wife, Nikki G’Fellers Bond of Kannapolis, NC; her grandsons, James Raymond Bond Johnson and his wife, Sabrina Reece Johnson of Telford, TN, Ward Valen Bond, and Victor Levi Bond, both of Kannapolis, NC; her great-granddaughter, Jordyn Gabriella Johnson and her great-grandson, Andrew James Johnson of Telford, TN; various nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews also survive.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to St. Joseph College Alumnae Association Scholarship Fund, Mount St. Mary’s University, 16300 Old Emmitsburg Rd. , Emmitsburg, Maryland 21727, (301) 447-5075. A special thanks to Dr. Larry Schmidt, Pat Berg, Kathy Gerald, The staff of Amedisys Hospice in Elizabethton, TN, and to Jane Dresser and the members of the Johnson City Senior Center Needle and Fiber Arts Group.

The family will gather to receive friends on Saturday, October 20, 2018 from 11:00am-1:00pm at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Johnson City, TN. A funeral mass will follow with Father Pete Iorio officiating. The burial will take place on Monday, October 22, 2018 at 1:30pm at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Beckley, WV.
