Edith Bryant Whittington May 15, 1953 – January 04, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Edith Bryant Whittington, 65 of Liberty, passed away January 4, 2019 at her residence. A visitation will be held Tuesday January 8th, 2019 from 5 PM until 9 PM at Hartman-Jones Funeral Home of McComb. A visitation and services will be held at Freeman’s Funeral home in Chapmanville, WV.

, and burial will be in Conley cemetery. Edith was the daughter of the late Robert and Eunice Conley Bryant. She was born and raised in Hart’s Creek, WV.

She was proud of her WV roots and a very proud Coal miner’s daughter. Edith was a manager for Craddock Oil at the Exxon/On the Run gas station in Liberty for nearly two decades. She always had a smile for everyone that came into her store and she took care of the law enforcement officers that came through.

She had recently retired in June and had enjoyed vacationing with her sister, spending Christmas with her family in WV and spending every moment she could with her grand babies and family. She was a loving mother, Granny, and friend and will be missed dearly by all who knew her. She is preceded in death by her parents, one brother Hurtis Bryant, and her late husband, Luther Whittington.

She is survived by one son, Jeff (Melissa) Allred from Switzer WV, two daughters, Gwendolyn (Mike) Helms of Hamilton, AL and Jennifer (Malcolm) Hucabee of Liberty, MS , 5 grandchildren, Emily Allred , Cameron Allred, Ashlee Helms, Wyatt Hucabee and Savannah Hucabee, 4 sisters, Teresa (Sherman) Crum, Vellecca Dixon, Retha (Virgil) Black, Nancy (Charlie) Casto, 4 brothers Mickey Bryant, Curtis Bryant, Doug (Mary) Bryant, Ora Jerry (Janet) Bryant, numerous nieces and nephews and special friends Debra Terluin and Margaret West. Pallbearers will be her brothers and family. Honorary Pallbearers will be Chris Williams, Ellis Hollingsworth, David Watson, and Lamar McKenzie.
