Obituary for Edith “Elaine” Curtis Edith “Elaine” Curtis, 78, of Kannapolis passed away Saturday, June 2, 2018 at Avante Nursing Center. A memorial service will be held at 3 PM Thursday, June 7, 2018 in Wilkinson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Carol Carkin officiating. Born in Haywood County on September 23, 1939, she was the daughter to the late Charles Manley Curtis and Edith Elizabeth Dotson Helms.

After graduating from the UNC Nursing program in 1962, she traveled to Haiti where she worked at a tuberculosis clinic and returned to the states in 1964. Elaine enjoyed reading, working on puzzles, knitting, and anything to keep her hands busy. She loved animals, especially cats and birds.

Left to cherish her memories are her daughter, Dawn Dandridge (Dennis); brother, Charles Curtis (Charlotte); aunt, Linda Crawford; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be made to Ruth’s Dollars at Central United Methodist Church, 30 Union Street N. Concord, NC 28025.
