Obituary for Edward Estes Edward Vincent Estes, 74, died Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at the Kearny County Hospital in Lakin, Kansas. He was born July 8, 1944 in Lyons, New York the son of Earl Harry & Evelyn (O’Neil) Estes. Edward attended elementary school in Caracas, Venezuela.

He then attended 1 year of military school in Miami, Florida. Edward Moved to Deerfield, Kansas where he attended high school and graduated from Deerfield High School. Edward has been a resident of Southwest Kansas since his high school years, living in Deerfield, Garden City, and Lakin.

He worked as an auto mechanic for Burtis Motors for 10 years. He then worked for more than 20 years for KN Energy. After his retirement from KN Energy, Edward worked at Main Street Supply in Lakin.

He enjoyed fishing and watching movies. He was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan and he loved to spend time with his family. On May 1, 1965, he married Sharon Sue Schupman in Garden City, Kansas.

She survives. Other survivors include four children Missy Dreiling & husband Alan Dreiling of Garden City, Kansas, Nicki Armstrong & husband Buddy Armstrong of Riverton, Wyoming, Jana Bell-Berlier & husband Wade Berlier of Lakin, Kansas, and Eddie Estes of Hugoton, Kansas; a Brother Earl “Rocky” Estes of Newberry, Florida; eight Grandchildren Shon Estes, Katie Vroman, Shelbey Bell, Jaron Bell, Keagan Bell, Eddie Estes, Jayson Estes, Kaylah Estes, & Samantha Estes; and five Great-Grandchildren Adly Vroman, Reeys Vroman, Jerrod Estes, Sara Herman, & Logan Herman. Edward is preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at the Lakin Wesleyan Church with Pastor Chris McFadden officiating. Burial will follow at the Lakin Cemetery in Lakin, Kansas. There will be no calling hours.

The family suggests memorials given to the Edward Estes Memorial Fund in care of Garnand Funeral Home of Lakin, Kansas.
