Obituary for Joseph Westfall Joseph Wayne Westfall, age 92 , of Ulysses, Kansas died Monday, October 15, 2018 at Western Prairie Care Home in Ulysses, Kansas. He was born November 13, 1925 in Bates, Arkansas the son of Joseph Allen and Myrtle (Kindrix) Westfall. Wayne grew up in Arkansas and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

After being honorably discharged he found his way to Ulysses, Kansas in 1954, where he raised his family and worked as a Plant Operator for Mesa Petroleum, retiring after 33 years. He loved baseball and also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Wayne also taught himself to play the guitar and the fiddle and spent many hours playing in a garage band.

On September 26, 1954 he married Nina Geraldine Johnson at Raton, New Mexico; she survives. Other survivors include two sons Louis Westfall of Olathe, Kansas, Lowell Westfall and wife Paige of Abilene, Kansas, three grandchildren; Brodie Wayne Westfall, Jerod Brett Westfall, Brooke Ashley Cornell and two great-grandchildren, Ayden and Gavin Cornell. Wayne is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.

Funeral service will be held Thursday, October 18, 2018, 10:00 a.m. at Garnand Funeral Home Chapel, Ulysses, Kansas with Reverend Kelly Gindlesberger officiating. Burial will follow at Ulysses Cemetery, Ulysses, Kansas. There will be no public calling hours.

Family requests memorials be given to Ulysses Little League Baseball in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant, Ulysses, KS 67880.
