Obituary for Edward W. Hornkohl Sr. Edward W. Hornkohl, Sr., 94, died Wednesday (October 24, 2018) at Bel-Aire Manor in Newington on this date to join his beloved wife Shirley of 70 years. Born in New Britain, he was a former Wolcott resident before moving to Newington. Ed was a graduate of Bristol High School, Class of 1942, and was a World War II US Navy veteran serving aboard the Destroyer, U.S.S. Monssen.

He worked at International Silver in Meriden for 40 years. Ed was a kind and gentle man. He loved crossword puzzles and the NY Yankees.

He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him. Surviving is his son, Edward Hornkohl, Jr. and his wife Joyce of Kensington; a daughter, Linda Navarro and her husband John of Bristol; seven grandchildren, Edward Hornkohl III and his wife Gail of New Milford; Alan Hornkohl of West Hartford; Romey Murphy and her husband Peter of Simsbury; Melissa Bernier and her husband Shane of Bristol; and Sarah Navarro and her fiancé Chris Cuccureddu; Jennifer Navarro of Farmington; and Jason Navarro of Southington; also of Bristol and 9 great grandchildren. Besides his wife Shirley, Ed was predeceased by a son, Alan Hornkohl and three sisters, Gertrude McClellan, Gladys Watrous and Louise MacCormack.

Funeral services are Monday 10 AM at Carlson Funeral Home, 45 Franklin Square, New Britain. Burial with military honors will be in Fairview Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday 5 to 7 PM at Carlson Funeral Home.
