Elaine Williams , December 19, 1948 — June 15, 2018

Elaine Williams, 92, of Sterling died at Gold Crest Retirement in Adams on Friday, June 15, 2018. She was born April 27, 1926 at rural Adams and attended Immanuel Parochial School of rural Sterling. She was united in marriage to Raymon J. Williams on December 19, 1948 at Sterling.

She was a life-time member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of rural Sterling where she had been a Sunday School teacher and a member of LWML. She had been recognized as the Sterling Honor Citizen and was Grand Marshall for the Sterling Picnic Parade several years ago.

She worked as a custodian for the Sterling Public Schools for25 years and also did housekeeping, laundry and yard work. She enjoyed all local sports and watching baseball on TV. Survivors include three daughters, Shirley Roschewski of Virginia, Sharon Williams of Sterling and Joyce (Rick) Thies of Sterling; one son, James (Susan) Williams of Sterling; nine grandchildren, Eric (Angie) Roschewski, Jamie, and Ryan Roschewski all of Beatrice, Andy Kristie) Thies, Heather, and Hannah Thies all of Sterling, Rebecca, Kaleb and Noah Williams of Sterling; eight great-grandchildren, Kendra, DeAnna, Ian, Michael, Gavin, Emma, Harlea and Henry; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ida Hoehne Rathe; her husband Raymon, who died January 18, 1995; son-in-law, Michael Roschewski; seven brothers, Herbert, Hubert, Richard, Harold, Willard, Virgil and Lyle Dean Rathe and one sister, Hulda Nathan. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, June 18, 2018 at Immanuel Lutheran Church of rural Sterling with Pastor Dan Gifford officiating. Interment will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery of rural Sterling.

A family prayer service will be held at 10:00 A.M. at the church on Monday. The body will lie in state at the Zink-Fox Funeral Home of Sterling on Sunday from 12:00 noon to 8:00 P.M. Sunday and at the church one hour preceding the services on Monday. A memorial has been established to the family’s choice with the church elders in charge.
