Ellen L Campione , November 17, 1931 — April 26, 2018

Ellen L Campione Ellen L. Campione, 86, of Log City Road, Amsterdam, NY; passed peacefully into the arms of her loving husband, Charlie on April 26, 2018 at St. Mary’s Healthcare in Amsterdam. Ellen was born on November 17, 1931, the youngest of three daughters to Charles “Dutch” and Mildred Foss Guhring at the family home on William Street in St Johnsville, NY. Ellen and Charlie were eighth grade sweethearts and remained that way until his passing.

Ellen graduated from St. Johnsville High School in 1949 and one week later went to work at Central National Bank in St. Johnsville. On October 15, 1951, she married Charles Campione at St. Patrick’s Church in St. Johnsville and four days later, he shipped out to Korea for two years. Upon his return they moved to Amsterdam where Charlie operated a new Texaco Service Station, one of several, the last one being Ace Service Center on Route 30 North.

Ellen and Charlie enjoyed 48 years together until his passing on October 11, 1999. They enjoyed their country home which was always open to all of their friends, family and especially all of their children’s friends. She dedicated her life to her husband and children and built a wonderful life together.

Ellen is survived by her three children, Camille J Panasiuk (Frank), James Campione and Charles J. Campione (Paula). Also surviving are three grandsons, Michael C., Alexander J. and Ryan Campion, a cousin Fay Guhring Davis of Ilion, NY; a special niece, Paula Walter Gillan, special nephew, Jeffrey Caswell of New York City along with several other nieces and nephews. Ellen was also predeceased by two sisters, Charlene Walter (Paul) of Fort Plain, NY; and Dorcas Caswell (Weston) of Scotia, NY.

Relatives and friends are invited to call Sunday from 2 to 4 at the Riley Mortuary, Inc., 110 Division Street, Amsterdam, NY 12010. Inurnment will take place at Fairview Cemetery, where Ellen will be laid to rest next to her beloved Charlie, where she has long wanted to be – together again. Memorial gifts in Ellen’s name may be made to Community Hospice of Amsterdam, 246 Manny Corners Road, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
