Obituary for Elmer Ray Reeder Elmer Ray Reeder Georgetown, TX Elmer Ray Reeder was born August 13, 1926 in Haynesville, LA, the youngest son of George Clinton and Lena Holt Reeder. Growing up on their farm as one of eight siblings, he learned early the value of hard work and a full day. First with mules and later with tractors, farming was always one of his passions.

He served in World War II in the Army as an infantryman and was stationed in the Pacific in the Philippines and Okinawa. Returning home after the war, he married Mandalene Johnson on May 28, 1948, and they were married for 70 years. Farming outside Homer, LA, and later at their home place east of Haynesville was always a big part of his life.

He retired as a school bus driver, while working as a carpenter with his brother, Ferman, and a roughneck along the way. Throughout his life Ray enjoyed quail hunting and had a special talent when training his hunting dogs. In recent years, circumstances called for Ray and Mandy to move to assisted living in Georgetown, TX, to be near their daughter, Susan.

Ray peacefully passed on July 16, 2018 at his home in Georgetown. Ray was survived by his wife, Mandalene, two daughters and spouses, Karen and Bill Ferguson of Wolf, WY, Susan and Duane Atchison of Georgetown, TX and daughter in law, Anita Reeder.
