Obituary for Melissa Jane Tucker Benson Melissa Jane Tucker Benson Shongaloo, LA Funeral services for Ms. Melissa Jane Tucker Benson, age 52, will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, July 8, 2018, at Bailey Funeral Home, Springhill, LA, with Rev. A.W. Smart officiating. Interment will follow in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery, Shongaloo, LA under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held Saturday, July 7, 2018, 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Bailey Funeral Home. Mrs. Benson was born on January 6, 1966 to Terry and Jane Wilkerson Tucker in El Dorado, AR and passed away on Thursday, July 5, 2018 in Springhill, LA. She was a registered nurse at David Wade Correctional Center.

She was always willing to help out people in need, was an active member of her church, and loved spending time with her family. She is survived by her husband of 16 years, Earl Benson; father, Terry Tucker of Crossett, AR; four daughters, Stevie Day of Shongaloo, LA; Lacey Marie Mann of Shongaloo, LA; Asteana Rhodes of Shongaloo, LA, and Brandy Sutka of Doyline, LA; grandson, Laycen White; sister, Juanita Hicks and husband Floyd of Junction City, AR; half-brothers, Paul Tucker and Terry Tucker, Jr.; niece, Crystal Hicks of Junction, AR; and a host of family and good friends. Mrs. Benson was preceded in death by her mother, Jane Wilkerson.

Pallbearers will be Ricky Rhodes, Jason Benson, Rodney Paul Coffman, Robert Benson, Tommy Benson, and Wayne Kennedy. Honorary pallbearers will be Jonathan Shern, and Matthew Shern. The family would like to give special thanks to the Shongaloo Fire Department, and Chief Tommy Rasberry, the EMTs, and the Staff of Springhill Medical Center for their love and concern.
