Obituary for Joe Marlon Lee Sr, Joe Marlon Lee, Sr., age 75, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 23, 2018 at Heritage Nursing Center. He was born October 31, 1942, in Haynesville, to Joe Garland Lee and Avis Muriel Morgan Lee. He was a 1960 graduate of Haynesville High School.

He married Leta Alderson Lee of Athens on June 7, 1962 and graduated from Louisiana Tech where he was the president of the Block and Bridle Club and a member of the LA Tech Judging Team. Joe, with Leta (married for 56 years), raised their two children, Connie and Joey, in Haynesville, LA where he worked for 30 years teaching Vocational Ag at Haynesville High. Joe was a loyal, supportive, social family man and provocateur.

He was the President of the Claiborne Parish Cattlemen Association, President of Claiborne Parish School Board, and President of the Claiborne Parish Fair. He was a member of Haynesville United Methodist Church where he served on numerous committees and the President of the Whitehall Cemetery Association. Joe received the Outstanding Young Vocational Ag Teacher’s Award and was a member of the Lake Claiborne Lake Commission.

Joe is preceded in death by his father (Joe Garland), his mother (Muriel), and his daughter-in-law Kathryn Ann Lamb Lee. He is survived by his wife, Leta A. Lee; his daughter and son-in-law, Connie Lee Winn and Benjie Winn; his son, Joey Lee; his grandchildren, Britney Winn Lee (husband, Luke Lee), Jessica Lee Merritt (husband, Collin Merritt), Heather Lee Langford (husband, Bric Langford), Jason Charles Winn, Candace Muriel Lee; and his great grandchildren, Bree Merritt, Bryce Merritt, Bridger Lee, Tuk Langford, and Tate Langford. Joe Marlon Lee was a strong, private, and witty man dedicated to hard work, close family, and good food.

He grew several crops, flocks, and generations of kiddos up on country land that he taught them how to love. He (and his twinkling blue eyes) will be greatly missed. There will be Celebration of Life Gathering at the Claiborne Parish Fair Building in Haynesville beginning at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 29, 2018, there will be a time of fellowship, sharing and food.

The family would like to offer our deep gratitude to Dr. Mark Haynes; Dr. Scott Haynes, Debra Woodward, Nurse Practitioner; the Nurses, CNAs, and Staff of Heritage Nursing Center; Regional Hospice; and the many families and friends who have visited and called.
