Emma Sue Gibson, longtime former Cushing resident passed away Tuesday afternoon, April 17, 2018 in Cleveland at the age of 92 years. The daughter of the late Glenn Cardin and Anna Mae Taylor Cardin, Emma was born on January 26, 1926 in Cushing and was raised and educated here, graduating from Cushing High School. She was united in marriage to Donavon Bonebrake and to this union one daughter Karen was born.

Emma had worked as an office manager for many years for several different business’s, including Woolworth in Cushing and Walmart in Ponca City and Stillwater, prior to her retirement in 1963. She attended the First Freewill Baptist Church.

She enjoyed being involved at the Cushing Senior Citizen Center where she also delivered many meals as a volunteer. She enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, painting, and she loved to dance; Emma will be remembered for her dancing in roller skates. Emma is survived by daughter, Karen Bonebrake of Sapulpa; son Samuel Shelton of Stillwater; two grandchildren, Patti Farris and Dustin Shelton; three great-grandchildren, Mykael Farris, Maddie Farris and Jonathon Farris; sister, Glenda Burch; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, Emma was preceded in death by one grandson, Donald Lee Farris; brother Ira Neel Griffith; sister Betty Jean Oliver; step-brother William Billy Cardin and two step-daughters, Sherry Mayo and Mary Marler. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 20, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. in the Memorial Chapel of the Davis Funeral Home with Ronnie Wells officiating.
