Erma Tyson of Flint, Michigan October 30, 1948 – January 29, 2019 TYSON, Mrs. Erma-age 69, of Flint, passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at Genesys Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held 11:00am Saturday, February 9, 2019 with a 10:30am family hour at Sheldon T. Banks Funeral Chapel, 3021 S. Dort Hwy. , Flint, MI 48507.

Superintendent Tracy Williams officiating. Calling hours are 12:00pm-6:00pm Friday, February 8, 2019 at Sheldon T. Banks Funeral Chapel. The final resting place for Mrs. Tyson will be Gracelawn Cemetery, Flint, MI.

Mrs. Erma Jewell Tyson “GG” was born October 30, 1948 in Benton, Arkansas the daughter of Roy B. Tyson and Geraldine (Farmer) Tyson. She attended Ralph Bunch High School in Benton, Arkansas where she was crowned Homecoming Queen at the age of sixteen. Mrs. Tyson worked for Owosso Furniture Factory in Arkansas.

She later relocated to Flint, Michigan where she raised her six children. Erma accepted Christ under the leadership of Superintendent T.R. Williams at Divine Deliverance Church. She enjoyed catalog shopping, watching “The Stories”, cooking, spending time with her grandchildren and dog Cocoa until she made her transition to be with the Lord.

Mrs. Erma J. Tyson “GG” leaves to cherish her memory: children, Cynthia Smith, Venita Wilson, Terrance Tyson Sr., James Tyson and Tanisha Coulter all of Flint, MI; grandchildren, Marquavis Sublett, Shanita Jenkins, Anisha Young, Iyesha Sheriff, Damerion Coulter, Terrance Tyson Jr., Jalon Coleman, and Sha’Riya Taylor; great-grandchildren, Montez Jenkins, Jaxson Jenkins, Marquavis Luckado and Ariel Luckado all of Flint, MI; brothers and sisters, Alfred Tyson of Malvern, AR and family, William Tyson of San Diego, CA and family, Frank Earl Tyson of Columbus, OH and family, Vera Cooney of Benton, AR and family, Alma Tyson of Benton, AR and family, Maureen Williamson of Benton, AR and family, and Ernestine Rice of Grand Blanc, MI and family; special son and daughter, Rosetta and Rickey Dent; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mrs. Erma Tyson was preceded in death by: son, David “Mack” Young; parents, Roy B. and Geraldine Tyson; sisters, Joanne Dent and Eula Mae Allen; nephew, Albert Dent; and brother-in-law, Roosevelt Dent. The family would like to express special thanks to the staff of Medilodge of Grand Blanc, Ascension Genesys Hospital, Flint Neighborhood Coalition, Superintendent Tracy and first Lady Sonya Williams and Divine Deliverance Ministries, family and friends.
