Ernest Harold Holt Jr., 53, of Vernon passed away on Thursday, August 30, 2018, at his residence. Born March 27, 1965, in Shelbyville, Mr. Holt was the son of the late Ernest Harold Holt Sr. and Donna Faye (Mickel) Holt. Mr. Holt was a 1983 graduate of Jac-Cen-Del High School in Osgood and served in the U.S. Air Force.

He worked for Martinrea for three years and had formerly worked in the county correctional systems for Ripley and Jennings Counties. Mr. Holt attended First Church of the Nazarene in North Vernon and enjoyed being outdoors and hiking. He is survived by his brothers, Michael (Deborah) Holt of Seymour, Anthony (Connie) Holt Sr. of Franklin, John (Carol) Holt of Batesville and Robert Holt of Indianapolis; and sisters, Starla (Randy) Sell of Red Hill, Pennsylvania and Beth (Paul) Rumsey of North Vernon.

He was preceded in death by his parents. A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 7, 2018, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, September 7, 2018, from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.

Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery. Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Potters House or the First Church of the Nazarene Youth Ministries.
