Ernest F. Brown, Sr., 87, of Palmer Township, passed away Sunday, February 10, 2019 at his home. Born September 27, 1931 in Easton, PA, he was a son of the late Kenneth and Ellen (Snyder) Brown. His wife of 65 years, Joyce L. (Matlock) Brown, passed away August 1, 2016.

Ernie was a 1950 graduate of Phillipsburg High School and served with the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. He retired from James River Corp. , formerly Riegel Paper, where he was employed for over forty years.

Ernie enjoyed watching NASCAR and football, especially the N.Y. Giants. He was a member of Northampton County Detachment Marine Corps League and Safety First Volunteer Fire Co. Surviving are a son, Ernest F. Brown, Jr. and his wife Beverly, of Palmer Township; a daughter, Cynthia Weisel and her husband Howard Jr., of Phillipsburg, NJ; four grandchildren, Todd Weisel and his wife Marlene, Howard Weisel III, Ernest Brown III and Joshua Brown; and four great-grandchildren, Brianna, Casey, Gavan and Ava. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by a sister, Linda Merkel, and a grandson, Jason Weisel.

Services will be held at 11am Thursday in the Strunk Funeral Home, Inc., 2101 Northampton St., Wilson Borough. Call Thursday 10-11am in the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenwich Cemetery.
