Esther Louise Rice, 88, of Maceo, passed away on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. She was born November 24, 1930 in Hancock County, KY to the late George and Corene McCarty Newton. She was a lifelong member of Maceo Baptist Church.

Esther loved watching UK basketball games and especially looked forward to the weekly Thursday lunch with her Maceo friends at Hillbilly restaurant. Most of all she loved when her family visited, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elvis Rice; brothers, W.A. Newton and Norman Newton.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children; Laretta and Larry Bullock, Gary and JoAnn Rice, and Byron and Leslie Rice; five grandchildren, Eric and Angela Fullenwider, Lauren and Aron Kaiser, Stacey and Cary Christian, Ashley and Eric Howard and Ben and Michelle Rice; and nine great-grandchildren. A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory with Pastor Scott Ford officiating. Burial will follow in Mt.

Eden Baptist Church Cemetery, Hawesville, KY. Visitation is from 3 to 7 p.m. on Friday and after 9:30 on Saturday at the funeral home. The family would like to express sincere appreciation to the third floor nursing staff at the hospital that cared for our loved one.
