Obituary for Estin Gene “Speedy” Jenkins CARMEL, Ind. – Estin Gene “Speedy” Jenkins, age 89, formerly of Richmond, Indiana, died Sunday, October 21, 2018, at ManorCare Health Services-Summer Trace in Carmel, Indiana. Born January 18, 1929, in Clinton, Indiana, to Virgil Roy and Vivian Maurine Bunch Jenkins, Speedy graduated from Gerstmeyer Technical High School in Terre Haute, Indiana.

He served in the U.S. Army. Speedy lived in Richmond most of his life, before moving to Carmel in 2010. He retired from Ahaus Tool and Engineering in 1996 and had previously worked at Knowles Tool Corporation.

Speedy had been a Little League baseball coach. He was a member of American Legion Harry Ray Post #65. Speedy enjoyed golfing and was an IU fan and dog lover.

He was a devoted parent and grandparent. Survivors include his children, Kirk Jenkins of Carmel and Melissa Brim of Greenfield, Indiana; stepson, Tom Austerman of New Harmony, Indiana; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; brother, Jack Jenkins; nieces; nephews; cousins; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Marie Jennings Jenkins, who died January 6, 1991; stepdaughter, Judy Austerman; grandson, Robert Estin Meinders; and parents.

Visitation for Estin Gene “Speedy” Jenkins will be from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, October 25, 2018, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 26, 2018, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home with Chaplain Rick Alvey officiating. Burial will be in Earlhan Cemetery with military honors provided by the Wayne County Honor Guard.
