Ethel Sue Hudson Ledbetter was born September 12, 1944 and passed Friday, January 18, 2019 peacefully at Fleetwood Covenant Healthcare of Easley, South Carolina after a long battle with Dementia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Ledbetter, her parents, Cohen and Anner Chapman Hudson; her sisters, Ruby Hudson Padgett, Marie Addington, Florence Hudson Lail, Bonnie Hudson Martin and Shirley Hudson Smith Hoyle and her brothers, Elmer Hudson, Horace Hudson, McKinley Hudson,… Conley Hudson and Tommy Hudson, She is survived by her children, Jerry Duncan (Linda) of Blacksburg, SC; Mark (Holly) Duncan of Black Mountain, NC; Steven (Nyda) Duncan of Easley, SC and Gena Duncan of Rutherfordton, NC; Grandchildren, Jessica Duncan, JD Duncan, Kaiteland Duncan Stiwinter (Jesse) and Jacob Duncan; sisters, Nellie (Joe) Farris and Dean (Ned) Chapman; brothers, Gene Hudson, Kenneth (Pat) Hudson and Jerry (Frances) Hudson; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Ethel was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend to all she met.

She was loved by all for her kindness and compassion for others. She loved baking, cooking, singing, attending her church and spending time with her children, grandchildren and pets. She leaves behind a host of family and friends to cherish her time here on earth.

She is now in the presence of her Lord and savior which she longed for. The family would like to thank all the staff, nurses and doctors at Fleetwood Covenant Healthcare and especially Sharon and Joe from Palliative Hospice for their care and compassion during Ethel’s time there. Pallbearers: JD Duncan, Jacob Duncan, Jed Hester, Eli Hester, EJ Hudson and Jesse Stiwinter.

Visitation will be 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, Sunday at Hudson Memorial Baptist Church. A funeral service will be 3:00 PM, Sunday at Hudson Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Hudson officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hudson Memorial Baptist Church, 762 Warlick Road, Lawndale, NC 28090.
