Mrs. Ethel J. (Slobecheski) Krawec, 96, beloved mother, grandmother, neighbor and friend passed into Eternal Life peacefully Thursday evening with her daughter and son-in-law at her bedside in Riverstreet Manor, Wilkes-Barre. Born November 3, 1921 in Wilkes-Barre, she was daughter to the late William and Susan (Purchel) Slobecheski, and was educated in the city schools. A woman of faith, Mrs. Krawec was a devoted Catholic and held membership in the Parish of Saint Andre Bessette, North Wilkes-Barre.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Mr. Paul Krawec in 1985 and by a daughter, Mrs. Paulette Dopko. She was also the last sibling of eight brothers and sisters of whom have since passed. Left to mourn her passing are her devoted daughter and caregiver, Mrs. Elaine K. Klukoske and her husband William T., with whom Mrs. Krawec resided; Son-in-law, Mr. Joseph Dopko of Wilkes-Barre; Granddaughter, Mrs. Lisa Bogner and her husband Andrew of Maine; Her son-in-law’s sister and dear friend, Mrs. Louise Banik of Swoyersville; fellow parishioners and many dear friends.

Mrs. Krawec is remembered for her gentle spirit, her love of Almighty God and her family. Enjoying cooking, she loved making homemade pirohy and soup. A woman of clarity and insight, she was an avid reader who was well versed in a variety of topics through the books she enjoyed.

Also a lover of music, she even sang to her family and nurses from her bed the day she was called home. She and her daughter Elaine also shared the same birthday. Ethel will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.

Funeral services for Mrs. Krawec will be conducted on Monday at 9:30 a.m. from the North Wilkes-Barre location of the John V. Morris Family Funeral Homes Inc., 625 North Main Street, followed by her Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. in the Parish of Saint Andre Bessette, 668 North Main Street. The Reverend Kenneth M. Seegar, her pastor, will serve as celebrant and homilist. Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow next to her husband in Mount Olivet Diocesan Roman Catholic Cemetery, Mount Olivet Road, Carverton section of Kingston Township.

Relatives and friends may join Mrs. Krawec’s family for visitation and remembrances Sunday afternoon from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
