Eugenia R. “Genie” Butler, 69, of Jonesboro, IN, formerly of Greenfield passed away at her home on Monday, July 16, 2018. She was born June 4, 1949 in Indianapolis to the late Oscar E. “Gene” and Glenna Rae (Thomas) Thompson. Genie was a manufacture’s representative for Bassett Furniture for 25 years and the former owner of Wholesale Bedding & Furniture in Indianapolis.

She was a 1967 graduate of Mt. Vernon High School and attended Indiana University. She loved horses, cows and her dogs.

She also enjoyed working on her farm with her husband. Genie is survived by husband Nicholas R. Butler, whom she married July 2, 1994; children: Tecia (Jeff) Pruitt of Greenfield; Michelle (Brad) Fetty of Decatur, IN and Stacie Butler of Anderson; 4 grandchildren: siblings: Bill (Vickie) Thompson of Fortville, Sue Prewitt of Indianapolis; Michele (David) Whelchel of Indianapolis; Ty (Cindy) Thompson of Fortville. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Shane Butler and sister Cathie Ann Chappell.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, July 19, 2018 from 4 to 8 pm at Seals Funeral Home, Fortville. A celebration of Genie’s life will be held on Friday, July 20, 2018 at 10:00 am at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Gravel Lawn Cemetery, Fortville.
