Eunice Boyette Pearce Ireland, 92, of Charlotte, passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 13, 2019 with her family at her side. Mrs. Ireland is survived by her daughters Kathy Ireland Long and husband Howard, Vicki Ireland Brewer and husband Terry, and a son Charles “Chuck” Ireland and wife Brenda. She is also survived by a sister Doris Pearce, brothers, William “Buddy” Pearce and Benny Morris Pearce and wife JoAn, grandchildren Scott Mauldin, and wife Tina, Matthew Long and wife Shannon, Brandon Long, Bobby Pressley, Lisa Skinner, Michael Pressley and wife Heather, Brandon Huneycutt and wife Ashley, Nena Talbert, Jonathan Matthews and wife Ericka and 13 great grandchildren.

Mrs. Ireland was preceded in death by her husband Leonard Arnot “L.A.” Ireland Jr. and a daughter Lynn Annette Ireland, her parents Lonnie Ervin and Mary Jane Regan Pearce, sisters Mildred Pearce, Juanita Pearce Musselwhite, Clara Pearce Edge, Alma Catherine Pearce, Lucy Evelyn Pearce and a brother Norman Pearce, daughter-in-law Pamela Ireland and grandson Blake Thompson. She was born in Robeson County, North Carolina on September 5, 1926, where she spent most of her youth, graduating from Parkton High School in 1943. She joined St. Pauls Methodist Church in St. Pauls , North Carolina as a teenager.

Mrs. Ireland attended Kings Business College in Charlotte. She married “L.A.” Ireland Jr. on November 25, 1951. She was a plant assigner in State Staff Engineers Department of Southern Bell Telephone Company where she retired in 1977 with over 25 years of service.

They continued to live in Charlotte, where they raised a family and were active members at Hawthorne Lane United Methodist Church. She was a Guardian ad Litem for about 10 years. She was a member of the W.J. Edwards Class, the Young at Heart Club, United Methodist Women Circle#2, and a Heritage Room Volunteer at Hawthorne Lane.

She was a member of Mecklenburg Genealogical Society, North Carolina Genealogical Society, Wake County Genealogical Society, Southern Bell Pioneers and Communication Workers of America. She was politically active cherishing her right to vote. She volunteered regularly with the Board of Elections.

She was a life-long learner and had many and varied interests and passed her love of learning on to her children. A celebration of life will be held at Hawthorne Lane United Methodist Church, 501 Hawthorne Lane, Charlotte, on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at 1 PM with a reception to follow. Interment will be private.
