Evelyn Woods, May 25, 1932 — May 19, 2018

Obituary for Evelyn Woods Evelyn Mae Hicks-Woods was born May 25, 1932 to the late Clifford Wayne Hicks and Verna Mae Taylor. Evelyn was the eldest of 12 siblings. She attended Ecorse High School and her and her first job was working for Mr. and Mrs. Jerricki Ironing white shirts.

In 1953 Evelyn married Glen Allen Woods. Into this union three children were born, Glender LaVerne Woods-Manuel, Glen Allen Woods Jr., whom preceded her in death, and Rahgenia Vernetta Woods. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Gladys Hicks, Amelia Snedacar, Pauline Humphrey, Gertrude Rucker, Clifford Wayne Hicks Jr., and Karen Hicks.

Evelyn joined Pentecost Temple Missionary Baptist Church and was a long standing member. Evelyn was employed with Annapolis Hospital for 17 years and after her retirement she began working as a private duty nurse. Evelyn also sold Avon products for over 40 years and was very enterprising business woman.

In addition to her salesmanship she also sold Blair Fashions, Tupperware and LaRome Cologne. Every Christmas Evelyn gave her entire family gifts and Avon products. Evelyn enjoyed family gatherings, good food, helping others and you could always catch her smiling and enjoying herself.

She loved to get to know people and enjoyed great conversations. As she would always say. ”.

What’s new with you? ” She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband Glen A. Woods Sr., daughter Rahgenia V. Woods; five grandchildren, Fronty (Robin) Ragland, Glenetta Woods, Tyree Ragland, Kendrick Woods, and Tywon (Amanda) Ragland; 15 great grandchildren, Demarco, Olajuwan, Janelle, Jalen, Jayla, Jessie, Nasharee, Tierra, Sierra, Dierra, Nevaeh, Tywon Jr., Tyree Jr., Martinez and Amir, one great-grandson Aden; one sister Audrey (Walter) Hampton and three brothers, Clarence Conrad Hicks Sr., Cranford (Bonetta) Hicks, and Derek Hicks. One special daughter/niece Sheryl Humphrey and step-son Jemil Woods and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
