Everett J. “Ed” Sutherland, Jr., 81, of Bradford, passed away on Monday, July 2, 2018 at his home. He was born on October 2, 1936 in Bradford, a son of the late Everett J., Sr. and Mary Ann Leo Sutherland. He was a graduate of the Bradford Area High School.

He was a U.S. Air Force veteran who was stationed in Greenland; where he was a crew chief on a C-130. On September 19, 1958 in Hastings, NE, he married Dixie L. Cross, who survives. He was a member of the… Read More » American Legion Post 108 and the St. Bernard Catholic Church.

He was formerly employed by the Bradford Sanitary Authority until he opened the former Ed’s Arco Service Station which he ran for many years. Later on he worked at the Department of Public Works where he was eventually promoted to the position of Public Works Director; a position he held until his retirement. In addition to his wife of 59 years, Dixie Sutherland of Bradford he is also survived by three sons, Bill (Linda) Bredengerd of Bradford, Matthew (Elaine) Bredengerd of Augusta, GA and Everett J. (Laurie) Sutherland of Wrentham, MA; one daughter, Teri (Greg) Cannon of Bradford; one sister, Donna Tenhundfeld of Cincinnati, OH; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by one brother, Joseph Sutherland and one nephew, Patrick Sutherland. Visitation will be held at the Mascho Funeral Home, Inc. on Thursday, July 5, 2018 from 12:00 to 2:00 PM with funeral services to immediately follow at 2 at the funeral home with the Rev. Ricky Price, pastor of the Church of Christ, officiating.

Private burial will be in St. Bernard Cemetery. Memorial contributions in his memory can be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
