OBITUARY Father Matthew Bradley June 6, 1944 – September 24, 2018 Father Matthew Bradley Passed away peacefully at Massachusetts General Hospital on Monday September 24, 2018. Father Bradley was born on June 3, 1944 in New York City, the first of three children to Matthew and Margaret (Riordan) Bradley. Father Bradley graduated from Bergen Catholic High School in Oradell, New Jersey and Iona College.

Following his priestly studies, Father was ordained on June 24, 1972 in Fribourg, Switzerland at the Cistercian Abby of Hauterive. After several years of parish work in Vancouver and further graduate studies, Father came to Scituate in 1977 as the Father of the Foyer Charity. For more than 40 years he has welcomed retreatments from Scituate, neighboring towns, and across the country as well as local students preparing for confirmation.

Father has been supported in his ministry in Scituate by a group of very loyal and devoted friends. Father Bradley is survived by his sisters Kathleen Dempsey and Margaret (Peg) Bradley of Pearl River New York. He is also survived by his nieces and nephew Katie (Peter) Tat of Swampscott MA, John (Annemarie) Dempsey of Pearl River NY and Regina (Mark) Aydin of Colts Neck, NJ as well as his grandnieces and nephews Aiden, Maylin, Erin, Emma, William and Grace.

Visitation will be held at Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Road, Scituate on Friday September 28 from 4pm-8pm. His funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday September 29 at 10:30am from St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 10 Summer St, Cohasset, MA. Father Bradley will be buried at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, NY, along side his parents.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Foyer of Charity, 74 Hollett Street, Scituate, for the support of Pierre Tenou in Togo. Words of comfort may be left at www.
