Floyd Melvin Rains, 83, of Fontanet, IN passed away on Tuesday evening December 18, 2018 in Cloverleaf Healthcare, Knightsville, IN in the presence of family and friends. He was born on June 19, 1935, the son of Floyd Orville Rains and Helen (White) Rains. Floyd attended school in Reelsville.

He was a supervisor with J.I. Case Company for over 20 years. Previously he was a mechanic for the Kendall’s Garage in Manhattan, IN. Floyd enjoyed woodworking, mowing lawns and watching his favorite… T.V. programs, Ice Road Truckers and Deadliest Catch.

Floyd enjoyed eating biscuits and gravy and drinking coffee each morning with his friends at the local diners. He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 52 years, Lucille (Douglas) Rains; a son, Michael Wayne Rains; a brother, John Rains; and a sister, Wilma Chambers. Survivors include two sons, Brad Rains and wife Lynn and Mark Rains and wife, Kristi; his daughter, Sheri Rains; a daughter-in-law, Judy Rains; a brother, Donnie Rains; seven grandchildren, Jason Rains, Jeremy Rains, Michael Rains, Matthew Rains, Nichole Greenwalt, Ashton Rains and Austin Rains; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Saturday, December 22, 2018 in Lawson-Miller Chapel, 1702 E. National Ave. , Brazil with Pastor Steve Blades officiating. Burial will be in Prairieton Cemetery.
