Obituary for Frances A. Filipiak Beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at St. Mary’s of Michigan. Age 93 years. The daughter of the late August and Beatrice (Quinn) Fassezke, Frances was born September 20, 1924 in Saginaw, Michigan.
She married Edward F. Filipiak on June 18, 1949 at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. He predeceased her July 2, 2008.
Frances graduated from Arthur Hill High School in 1942. She worked at Michigan Bell Telephone and the UAWCIO Headquarters in Detroit from 1942-1945. Frances returned to Saginaw to work for Dr. David P. Gage, M.D., from 1945-51.
She owned and operated Mid-Michigan Market Research Company from 1954-1968. In 1969, she was employed at Buena Vista School District Administration where she served as Executive Secretary to the superintendent of Schools, retiring in 1986. Frances was a previous member of St. George Catholic Church and its Senior Citizen Club.
She a past member of American Business Women’s Association (ABWA) Wanigas Chapter Saginaw. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, traveling, dancing and loved spending time with her family. Surviving are one daughter and one son, Terri L. Kenel, Saginaw; Rob Filipiak and his wife Tammie, Saginaw; two granddaughters, Morgan (Jake) Schirmer and Tylor Marie Filipiak; Tammie’s children, Jeffrey (Brooke) Lemmer, Jerika (Jonathan) Dabbs, Shyanne (Robbie) Leiner; five great-grandchildren, Millie Lynn Schirmer, Alice and Kayleigh Dabbs, Jace Lemmer and Liam Leiner; several nieces and nephews.
Frances was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Gary Kenel, and by three brothers and two sisters, Albert A. Fassezke, Frederick W. Fassezke, Charles L. Fassezke, Rose E. Stewart and Helena Fassezke. Funeral Liturgy will take place 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 14, 2018 at St. Dominic Parish-Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 4735 W. Michigan Ave.
in Saginaw. Rev. Fr.
Steven Gavit will officiate with entombment in St. Andrew Mausoleum. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd. , (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and at Ss.
Peter & Paul Catholic Church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass. A Vigil Service, led by Amy Bartels Roe, will take place 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
