Canfield – Frederick James Stillwagon, 68, of Canfield, entered into eternal rest Friday afternoon, January 11, 2019 at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown with his family at his side. Fred was born April 8, 1950 in Youngstown, a son of Franklin and Nancy James Stillwagon. Raised in Boardman, Fred was a graduate of Boardman High School, Class of 1968 and went on to graduate from Vincennes University, in Vincennes, Indiana.

Returning to the area, Fred became the third generation to join his family business, James & Weaver Inc., an office furniture and equipment company that his maternal grandfather, Fred James co-founded with John Calvin in 1934. In 1980 Fred assumed the role of president when his father, Frank, retired. Fred was proud to also be the third generation in his family to actively serve on the board of the Salvation Army where he served as past president.

He was recently awarded the Life Time Advisory Board Membership Award for his service on the Salvation Army Executive and Property committee for more than a decade. Fred was a member and past president of theYoungstown Rotary Club where he was recipient of Rotary International highest honor, the Paul Harris Fellow. He was also past president of the Youngstown Club, former member of the Four Square Club, Shaggy Dogs and the Duquesne Club.

He was a member of the Canfield United Presbyterian Church. In his spare time, Fred enjoyed traveling, golfing, lawn work and taking care of home projects. Fred is survived by his wife Karen Arbogast, whom he married November 2, 1990; two daughters, Amy (Jason) LaCivita of Sandusky and Alexis Stillwagon of Canfield; three sons, Douglas Stillwagon of Cleveland, David (Joanna) Stillwagon of Boardman, and Deane Stillwagon of Cleveland; one sister, Nancy (Jon) Stillwagon of Kent; one brother, Paul (Ann) Stillwagon of Winchester, VA; and four grandchildren, Evan, Addison, Lauren, and Lana.

A service celebrating his life will be held, Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Canfield United Presbyterian Church with Pastor Larry Bowald officiating. Friends will be received Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home, Boardman and Saturday, from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, 1501 Glenwood Ave.
