Gary L. Comer, 71, of DeGraff, passed away at 5:20 p.m. on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at home surrounded by his family. He was born in Bellefontaine, Ohio on November 19, 1946 to the late Leland Leroy “Dawes” and Marguerite Adella “Maggie” (Black) Comer. On August 26, 1966 Gary married the former Brenda Irene Ceylor, and she survives; along with their two daughters, Sandra Comer and Tiana (Ben Vondenhuevel) Whitaker; a son, Gary Lee (Kristi) Comer Jr.; six grandchildren, Levi Horsley, Garrett Horsley, Adrianna Whitaker, Walker Whitaker, Noah Comer, and Meristin Comer; and a sister, Gloria Dearwester.

A 1964 graduate of Riverside High School, Gary retired from Navistar in 1999. He was very active in the community, serving as Assistant Fire Chief and Mayor for the Village of DeGraff. He was a member of Indian Lake Moose Lodge #1533, Logan County Chapter of Pheasants Forever, and Frank D. Castle V.F.W. Post #1080 Auxiliary.

Gary especially enjoyed the time he spent hunting and fishing with his grandchildren. Chaplain Glory Geib will officiate a memorial service at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at the Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 210 W. Hayes Street, DeGraff, Ohio. The family will receive friends from 3-4 p.m. and following the memorial service until 6:00 p.m. Burial will be in Greenwood-Union Cemetery in DeGraff, Ohio at the convenience of the family.

Funeral arrangements are in the care of the Daring & Sanford Funeral Home in DeGraff. DS Donations may be made to: Interm Hospice 3745 Shawnee Rd.
