Gary Lee Smith, 70, of Springfield, passed away on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Memorial Medical Center. Gary was born on November 2, 1948 in Springfield the son of Richard and Bertha Loveless Smith. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps serving during Vietnam.

He worked as a security guard for Lehn and Fink in Lincoln. He was preceded in death by his parents; and several siblings. He is survived by two daughters, Nikki L. Smith of Springfield and Rochelle M. Smith of Jacksonville, FL; one sister, .

Alberta Pape of Starke, FL; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 1, 2019 at Camp Butler National Cemetery where the Inter-Veterans Burial Detail will conduct honors.
