Obituary for Gene E. Folkenroth Gene E. Folkenroth, 86, of York, died on November 13, 2018 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Norma J. (Witmer) Folkenroth of York, to whom he was married for 67 years. Born in York on August 16, 1932, he was the son of the late Paul and Alverta (Lentz) Folkenroth.

Gene was a 1950 graduate of William Penn Senior High School. Gene was a master plumber and project manager for James Craft and Son for 27 years. He was a member of Yorkshire United Methodist Church, where he was very active and served as a Sunday School superintendent, trustee, and church officer.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Sharon Pichoto and her husband, Avi of Marlton, NJ, Debra Jones of Austin, TX, and Lynn Spangler and her husband, Steve of Dover; a son Rick Folkenroth of York; eleven grandchildren, Christy Cholerton, David Kreitzer, Heather Nieves, Sivon Pichoto, Natalie Lamparter, Stephanie Zavala, Ross Spangler, Patrick Jones, Kim Carroll, Mike Folkenroth and Lauryn Brown; and eight great grandchildren, Brendan, Jayce, Addilyn, Holt, Brody, Jamie, Sid and Max. Gene was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a devoted husband, father and his favorite title “pap”.

A visitation will be held Monday, November 19, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Yorkshire United Methodist Church, 125 Edgewood Road, York followed by a memorial service at 12:00 p.m. with the Reverend Dennis A. Hummel officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Yorkshire United Methodist Church, 125 Edgewood Road, York, PA 17402. Arrangements by the Etzweiler Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, 1111 East Market Street, York, PA 17403.
